Do Joint Replacements Cause Increased Inflammation In The Other Joints?

I there any medical evidence that suggest that joints replacement can leak and cause increased inflammation in other joints. My husband has had ankle replacement, replacements in foot and recently knee replacement. He is having major inflammation in wrist and hip joints.

Hi,

Prosthetic joints are immunologically inert. As such there is less likelihood of swelling of any other joint due to a prosthesis. An alternative diagnosis causing polyarthritis should be considered.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Syed Tehmid,
