Do Losartan And Metoprolol Cause Weight Gain?

i am taking medicine for high blood pressure Losartan Potassium 100mg (1 per day), Chlorthalidone 25mg (2 per day) Metoprolol Tartrate 50mg(1 per day). I have gained about 20 lbs in the last 6 months and want to diet. I am interested in Intermittent Fasting (not eating for 24 hours, in other words eat only dinner) Is this a concern with my medications? Should I take them around eating time? Or should I take some in the morning, but take others when I eat?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If you are overweight and you have planned for intermittent diet, it's ok. All the drugs mentioned above do not relate specifically to eating . It should be taken on its own time ,whether you eat or not. However, make sure you take good amount of fluid not to get dehydrated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
