Could Tinnitus And Dizziness Be Related To Bell's Palsy?

I suffered a jaw injury in 1976 from an extracted wisdom tooth. Damage to nerve 7, 9 and 11 are documented by the VA. I have a big problem with dizziness and ringing in the ears - both ears. is the dizziness and ringing in the ears related to bell s palsy?

Hello,

Tinnitus is a common issue, and most causes are benign and temporary. However, it lasts for a longer period, then it should be evaluated.

Tinnitus can occur due to causes like chronic ear infectionperforated eardrumEustachian tube dysfunction, Meniere's disease, TMJ disorders, Acoustic Neuroma etcetera.

Tinnitus is not a disease in itself, but it is a symptom that indicates that there is some underlying illness. I would suggest you consult an Otolaryngologist, and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like audiometry, x-ray, MRI can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.

In case if ringing does not resolve, then you can be advised medicines like Tricyclic anti-depressant like Amitryptiline, anti-anxiety medication like Alprazolam, as well as multivitamin supplements can be advised.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
