Could The Painful Thigh Lump Be Staph Infection Or MRSA?

Well i have a few different concerns about my health. Have been trying to get to doctor but unable to at this time. First question is regarding something I just decided to research up on last night. Hopefully just an ingrown hair but I am worried it can be staph infection or even worse MRSA. I have this hard bump on inner thigh next to bikini line. Its been there for few weeks now and seems to be getting worse. Now it is purple and size of quarter lump underneath, very painful; attempted to pop it and pus came out as well as some blood. My xboyfriend I was with for 2 years had MRSA pretty bad but told me was not contagious. Now 6 months after leaving him im finding out that s not the truth and is actually very contagious especially considering he had open holes from it that were discharging fluid. I used to help bandage and care for his wounds. Could I have gotten it from him?

Hi
Thanks for asking
Based on your history and query, my opinion is
1. There is a possibility of having contracted a infection from your friend, as the bacteria could have gained access through raw areas or skin abrasion.
2. But this needs to be confirmed by getting a culture sensitivity of the pus.
3. Based on the nature of organism, you can be treated accordingly.
4. Do not worry much as there is treatment for staphylocoocus infection if it comes positive on culture.
Hope this helps
Regards
