Hi I m currently taking 250mg of flucolxacillin 4 times a day for an infection. My stomch has become very bloated and i have gained about 5-8lb. I have only been on the tablets 4 days. Is the bloating/ weight gain a side affect or is this caused by something else?

Hi

Yes,bloating and nausea can occur with the use of flucloxacillin drug which is a penicillin derivative.

Side effects can slowly reduce in the following days.

Avoid foods that cause bloating like lentils, peas, beans.

Eating smaller portions of meals, and regular exercise can help.

Drugs that reduce bloating like simethicone can also be used thrice a day after meals.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
