Could Severe Swelling In Hands Indicate Tendinitis?

my daughter is 18. she went to the doctor Tuesday for sore swollen hands. he diagnosed her with tendinitis. she has more problems with her right wrist than her left. is severe swelling associated with this or could she have been misdiagnosed? she is using a wrist brace and is on a muscle relaxer. Thank you for your help
