Could Severe Pain In Muscle Joints Be Due To Lantus Insulin?

Hi I started Lantus 2 weeks ago and now Iam geting very sore joints. I nearly fell when my knee suddenly gave me shocking pain and I nearly dropped hot water jug when my wrist gave way with sever pain. Iam aching all over (joint and bone pains). The only change that I have made is going on Lantus insulin. Is this related to Lantus. Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

Yes, there have been numerous reports of myalgia while on lantus, and this has led to many patients changing from lantus over to other hypoglycemic medications and once the shift has been made they almost immediately are relieved of all the aches and pains. Speak to your doctor about this to find a solution.

Best wishes.
