Could Not Gaining Weight In Pregnancy Be Harmful?

my daughter just had her 2nd every 2 weeks appointment.......she did not gain any weight since her last appointment and had no growth........she is having an ultrasound in a few days...........i am concerned....her pregnancy has otherwise been normal.......what is going on?

Hello dear,I understand your concern.In my opinion normal weight gain should be upto 11kg during pregnancy.1 kg in first trimester,5 kg each in 2 nd and 3 rd trimesters.But weight loss might be seen in case of excess vomitings in first trimester.Give her healthy nutritional diet which includes veggies,fruits,dry fruits ,milk ,meat ,eggs and fish.Ask her to take food frequently every 2 hourly.And adequate fluids upto 3 litres.Slowly she will gain weight.If she is weak and lean the baby s growth might be retarded.Dont worry maximum growth might occur in last trimester in a few people.
