Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Could Large Knot And Bruising On Forehead Of Child Be A Matter Of Concern?
Hello. My six year hold daughter was hit on the left side of her forehead by a baseball. She has a large knot with bruising. She has Von wilebrands blood disorder. She complained of headache so I gave her tylonel. I am concerned because of her blood disorder. Should I take her to the er or just moniter at home?
Normally a knot after trauma to head without any neurological symptoms, like nausea, vomiting, unconsciousness etc., is not too much worrisome but as your daughter is suffering from Von Willebrand disease, some time a minor bleeding can cause serious problems in these patients. I hope everything is ok but I will recommend you to see a doctor for proper evaluation of the hematoma (knot) that is formed and further bleeding if any.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zia Ul Haq, General & Family Physician
