Could Fever Be Caused By High Bilirubin Count?

My 15 month old grandson has ALL since 3 1/2 months (Oct 11). He went into remission in Dec 11. He just finished an inpatient round on Tuesday and was discharged. He was readmitted last night with a fever. Today they stated his bilirubin is high. What would be going on?

Pediatrician 's  Response
High bilirubin does not cause fever. However breakdown of hemoglobin in leukamias or infections like malaria can cause fever and high bilirubin levels. further anti cancer drugs are itself cause of fever and high bilirubin levels. you should go for certain tests regarding liver function.
