Could Enlarged Spleen Be A Matter Of Concern?

Hi, I suffered from re accruing UTIs last year and went for a ultra sound of my kidneys and uterus . The doctor said my kidneys and uterus are fine but my spleen is larger than they would of expected and now I must come for blood work. I m really worried it is some thing scary . Please help:(

Dear thanks for the question.

Enlarged spleen is certainly serious. If I were a treating I would have gone for blood work up urgently. Reasons for large spleen range from simple infections to blood cancers. Morever enlarged spleen if considerably large it may lead to bleeding.
