Could Bruising On Bicep Be A Matter Of Concern In A Person With Heart Disease?

I have severe bruising around my right bicep and have not damaged it by falling or another collision. I had a quadruple heart bypass operation 18 months ago and subsequently had similar bruising of my lower body and thigh, which necessitated hospital treatment. What should I do?

Hello,

Bruising is a normal part of recovery process. Bruising occurs when the small blood vessels under the skin are damaged/injured. In your case bruise has occurred due to fall. Applying an ice pack will be helpful. You can apply ointment Thrombophob on the affected area. It will help to disperse blood clots under the skin.

You are suggested to get a follow-up clinical examination done to rule out formation of clot or any underlying medical condition that causes such symptoms. Get routine cardiac tests and cardiac function tests done to rule out development of any complication due to the fall. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
