Could Breathing Issues, Chest Pressure And Sternum Pain Be Due To Stress?

I have been having breathing issues for a couple of years, but they are quite worse over the past few months.. Chest pressure, the in ability to take a deep breath and sternum pain when taking a deep breath.. I am miserable.. Uncomfortable and sick of it... they have done some tests, but dismiss this as stress.. Could this be true?

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, stress can cause all these symptoms.
But better to rule out heart and lung related diseases first.
So get done ecg and 2d to rule out heart diseases.
Get done chest x ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) to rule out Pulmonary causes.
If all these are normal then no need to worry for major heart and lung related causes.
Stress appears more likely in your case.
So consult psychiatrist and get done counselling sessions. Try to identify stressor in your life and start working on its solution.
You may need anxiolytic drugs too.
Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
