Could Blue Ears And Breathlessness Be Due To Lack Of Oxygen?
My husband has been hurting a lot lately. His ears are blue, he can not sleep at night, but sleeps all day. I have tried to get his days and nights reversed but it has not worked. He has a very hard time breathing. I wonder if he has a lack of oxygen? He worries me and is very stubborn and will not agree to go to a doctor. by afternoon he is feeling better but still has problem with breathing.
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM. By your history and description, I think your husband is having obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). His symptoms like breathlessness, night time awakening, day time sleepiness, blue ears (cyanosis) etc are suggestive of OSA mostly. Blue ears are mostly due to cyanosis (low oxygen concentration in tissue). So better to consult pulmonologist and get done 1. PFT 2. Chest x ray 3. Sleep study 4. Arterial blood gas analysis to know oxygen level. He may need home oxygen therapy and inhaled bronchodilators. So better to consult pulmonologist and discuss all these. First diagnose him and start appropriate treatment.
