Could Apicolordotic View In Chest X-ray Be The Indication Of Pulmonary Tuberculosis?
Chi doc, few years back i was diagnosed for having ptb and got treated and cured for 6 months. Then i had my chest xray yesterday after 5 years but the problem is i lost my old chest xray for their baseline but i told them that i was cured before and even showed them my treatement card and medical certificate but to my surprised when i got the result today the result was suspicious on both upper lobe for apicolordotic view. I told them that was just the scar i got from my previous ptb. Does apicolordotic view would be the confirmatory test to find out if that is just a scar or active ptb? tnx doc
The routinely done PA and lateral views of chest x-rays do not give clear pictures of the upper parts of both the lungs because the bone (ribs) shadow will overlie the lesions hence making them hidden behind the bone. Apicolordotic view chest x-ray will show any lung changes in the upper lobes of lungs. It is recommended when there is doubt in chest X-ray PA view regarding any suspicious opacities in the upper lobes.
The requested apicolordotic view itself does not imply that you have a serious health complication, it just means that they need additional information. There is nothing to worry and it is only to clear a small doubt of suspicious opacity or density in the upper lobes.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
