Could Valacyclovir Cause Cold Sores And Itchy Lips?

Hi. Since April 30th I have been experiencing what seemed to be a cold sore out break...but never any real blisters...just looks like white heads I ve been taking Val acyclovir the entire time...with itchy lips....could it be something else? My partner also had a cold sore...blisters, crust and all

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain if your husband has cold sores and you are into intimate contact with him even during the outbreaks then you are at a higher risk of getting cold sores and the white head like bumps can be probably cold sores..

But you should get it confirmed by a Physician and after that only you should take anti viral medications like Valacyclovir..

I would therefore suggest you to consult an Infectious Medicine Specialist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like blood tests like antigen antibody reaction, polymerase chain reaction and blood culture can help in diagnosis and treated accordingly..

In case if herpes virus 1 infection is the diagnosis causing cold sores then you will be advised a long course of antiviral medications like Acyclovir, Valacyclovir along with topical antiviral ointments..
Avoid intimate contact during outbreaks..
Your husband should also be investigated and treated accordingly..
