Common Practice To Perform Surgery On A Child Without Both Parents Consent If They Are Divorced?
Is it a common practice to perform surgery on a child without both parents consent? And if so, do you regularly bill the parent that knows nothing of the surgery? My ex-wife had a circumsission performed on my 13 yr old son. I did not receive a bill and it went directly to collections. I am unable to qualify for a home purchace because of this. Ohh and she works for the insurance company that sent the bill to me.
There is something fishy here, and I don't know whether to laugh or commiserate with your plight. Normally, for a non-emergent surgery, consent of the parent or care-giver is mandatory. Both parents may not be needed, though. I guess you need to talk it over with your ex-wife about this. If this cannot solve the problem, you will need to get this investigated with the appropriate authorities. I am sure the amount is small, and a settlement can be reached.

Common Practice To Perform Surgery On A Child Without Both Parents Consent If They Are Divorced?
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. To perform a surgery on a child, usually one parent mother or father or legal guardian consent is enough. But this rule may vary from country to country and state to state. Billing by insurance company depends on the terms and conditions for which you agreed at the time of filling for the insurance. I advise you to clarify these details with the claiming hospital, insurance , and legal authorities locally. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
