Child MRI Scan Showed Linch Flair And Demyelination. Diagnosed With Hashimotos, Vomiting And Positive ANA. Suggest?
I have a nine year old female whose MRI scan showed a 1inch flair and also demyelination. Radiologist reported that the flair could have been from a PVL. She originally had the MRI bc of vomiting episodes during the night and disorientation at times. She has recently been dx with Hashimotos and has had 2 episodes of Thyroidtoxicosis and has a positive ANA/speckled screen. Her TSH levels have ranged from 0.02 to 90 and are for the fist time normal this month. We are waiting to see if levels remain normal. However, she does have some processing issues, one weak eye muscle and bilateral ptosis. Her Ped. does not seem concerned about her MRI. Should I have her seen by a neurologist.
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. Definetly weak eye, ptosis, and abnormality on MRI are indicative of some neurologic problem. Autoimmune or vasculitis neurological involvent has to be ruled out by correlating her clinical finding with her investigations. Hence I suggest you to consult a pediatric Neuro Physician. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
