Cause Of Pain And Swelling In Index Finger?

I have in the last week had increasing severe pain and swelling in my let hand index finger.The pain has become intense.I find it very hard to get to sleep due to this throbbing pain growing very intense on movement.What would this ailment likely to be.Thanks.Colin.

There can be many diseases which can cause such problem. It can be trigger finger. It can be a joint arthritis. So I would recommend you to meet a orthopaedic surgeon. He may need a x ray to confirm diagnosis. Till then you can take tablet Brufen for pain relief.
