Caring for my 86 yr old mother and she had a fall about 8 weeks ago. When she fell she was holding a metal bucket that gashed the front of her left lower leg pretty hard and made a good size wound right in front. The wound is scabbed over and a little over an inch wide still. She is getting better, but now when she is up walking for a period of time, the front of her shin (right by the accident site) is extremely tender to the touch. Feels like there is a knot right over the shin bone. Is there anything we can do to help alleviate the pain?
