Can't A Kidney Be Donated If There Is Marijuana In The Blood?

My niece needs a kidney and we have the same blood type. I m extremely healthy. No history of kidney stones or kidney infections, no HBP, no diabetes. I eat organic for 3 years now. No sodas. Very little alcohol. The worst thing that could come up in my blood is marijuana. Will that alone make me not able to donate?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic Forum.
I have gone through your Query & I really appreciate your concern about the delicate problem you are facing.

As a physician I would like to tell you that according to donor selection criteria laid down in many countries, you will be rejected as a Live donor on basis of Drug use, in your case Marijuana

But I will also like to inform you that the decision to accept or reject donor will depend on transplant committee and Transplant team in the end.

Thanks for Trusting & Posting your Query on this forum.
Hope this will help you. Feel free to ask any further question.
Have a nice Day.

Regards,
Dr.Abhijeet
