Hi, I have been diagnosed with Vitiligo few days back. It has affected my right cheek skin only. It was there from few years but from past 3 months it has shown progression. It has started to spread. I have started the medication, I have advised by my doctor to apply 3 types of creams, and alternate day to stand in sun for 5 to 10 min. What are the chances of recovery?
As per your query you have condition known as vitiligo in which there are white patches on the body that can occur anywhere . Melanin is the pigment that gives the skin its characteristic color. Vitiligo is caused by a loss of pigment in the skin, due to destruction of pigment forming cells known as melanocytes. There are certain treatment options available that can help in regaining the color of the skin near to normal like cosmetics, repigmentation using UV light therapy, corticosteroid creams, depigmentation of unaffected skin areas, and skin grafting, can be used to improve the appearance of skin severely affected by vitiligo. So i would suggest you to consult dermatologist and discuss the above options with him .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
