Can Use Of Pacemaker Have Any Side Effects?

I am feeling lightheaded, dizzy, bordering on passing out. I ve felt this way several times today. First time was this morning before I got out of bed. After each episode I had a slight feeling of nausea. I m a 78 year old male & I have a pacemaker to correct A-fib. I m due to have the batteries replaced in the pacemaker sometime this year. Could these symptoms be caused by the pacemaker not working properly?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Pace maker dysfunction can be responsible for heart beat variation, cerebral perfusion through cardiac contractility alteration and others. You must get checked for EKG as primary work up and later your doctor may decide to have an MRI or not relevant to this episodes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
