Can The Pseudomonas Infection Be Spread Through Kissing?

I am a 71 yr old female with pseudomonas of the lung. I am home after 3 weeks of IVs. I am on Tobramycin 28 days on and 28 off by Nebulizer. I still run low grade fever with chills. Can my husband get it from ki9ssing? Also what about cooking for family members. I constantly wash my hands and use tissue for coughing. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Pseudomonads are a group of bacteria found commonly in soil and other natural environments. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the most common which causes infection. It is found mainly in solutions containing water and soil. It can cause lung infections (pneumonia), eye infections, external ear infection, skin infections, septicaemia, urinary tract infections and wound infections, particularly in burn patients. A person can acquire a pseudomonas infection in various ways. For example, external ear infections after swimming in contaminated water, and infected wounds through contact with contaminated solutions, hands or equipment. Anyone can get a pseudomonas infection, although pseudomonads rarely attack healthy individuals in the community. Generally, people who are at most risk of getting pseudomonas infections and becoming seriously ill are those who have a weak immune system such patients with cancer, transplant patients, and patients with burn. It does not spread by kissing or cooking for family members. You can prevent spread of infection by following measures:
1.     washing hands before and after touching wounds
2.     avoiding swimming in polluted water
3.     adequate treatment of infections as recommended by your doctor
4.     drying ears thoroughly after swimming or showering
Thanks
