Can The Protein Powders Cause Any Health Problems?

Hello, I am 18 years old guy, doing bodybuilding 5 days a week(about 2 hours/workout) for one year. I try to do everything as natural as possible. Now I would like to hear your opinion about protein powders. Can it cause any health problems (when not over-dosing)? Thank you very much.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Certainly it is true that protein is required to build muscle. However, there is a limit to how much muscle growth can actually occur, no matter how much protein you consume. Eating protein alone will not increase muscle. For majority of people protein is easily obtained from food sources and there is no need to supplement with powders.
Consuming high levels of protein in the form of protein powders can be detrimental for our health. It can lead to:
1. Fat gain
2. Bone loss
3. Kidney damage
4. Dehydration
Protein should not make up more than 30% of your daily calories, and 15% is usually adequate. The recommended daily allowance for protein is 0.36 grams per pound of body weight.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
Wish you all the best.
