Can Surgery Fix A Loss Of Muscle Mass In The Hand?

MERRY CHRISTMAS DOCTOR, I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH LOSS OF MUSCLE MASS IN MY HAND BETWEEN MY THUMB & 1ST FINGER. I GOT A EMG DONE & WAS TOLD THAT I MIGHT NEED SURGERY OR PHYSICAL THERAPY. ( I WAS TOLD SURGERY) I HAVE A VERY WEAK LEFT HAND CAUSED BY WEAK NERVES OR SOMETHING. I WAS ASKED IF I FELL ON MY ELBOW OR REST MY ELBOW ALOT,& TRUCK DRIVERS GET THIS WHATEVER IT IS CALLED BECAUSE THEY ALWAYS REST THERE ELBOW ON THE CAR DOOR WHEN THEY DRIVE. I HAVE WEAK NERVES FROM MY ELBOW OR SOMETHING. CAN U TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT THIS IS CALLED & WHAT THEY ARE GONNA DO IN SURGERY IF I DECIDE TO GET THIS DONE. THANKS SINCERELY,PAMELA SWIES

You haven't mentioned sufficient information in your query. The kind of description you have given points some problem either around your elbow or hand. chances of it in hand are more.

It is called carpal tunnel syndrome. well I need to know more about your symptoms to come to a particular diagnosis and treatment.
