Can Suppository Be Given To An Infant To Pass Stools?

I have a 5 day old infant grandson that has not had a BM yet. Tonight he is fussy and gassy. I gave him a portion of an infant glycerin suppository, which did help him pass the gas. How often can I give him a suppository? Update, the suppository helped produce a plentiful BM. The baby is now nursing and seems much better.
