Can Sudden Numbness In Left Thigh Be Due To Pinched Nerve From Sitting On Hard Wheel Chair?
I developed a sudden numbness in the skin on the lateral surface of my left thigh just today. When I straighten my left leg I sometimes get a nerve shock in that numb area. I had a skiing accident to my right shoulder, cracked two ribs, and had to spend some time yesterday in hard bottomed wheelchairs and sitting a lot today and my pelvic bone gets sore after sitting on hard surfaces. Could this numbness be due to a pinched nerve from sitting and, if so, in addition to sitting on pillows is there anything else to do to cure this numb feeling today?
Hi I think it can be due due to sitting on hard surface which could have compressed the cutaneous nerve causing numbness. You sit on soft surface and apply ice over it. If the numbness does not relieve after 1week you should consult your spine surgeon to clinically examine spine and if necessary carry out mri spine to see weather the prolapse disc is not compressing the nerve root. Get well soon. Thank you.
