Can Stress Cause Recurring Yeast Infections While On IUD?

I ve had an IUD in for three years and I m considering removing due to yeast infections. The slightest change for me such as using a warming lubrication with my husband instead of a regular one causes an imbalance. I am very stressed at work as well. Could stress have an impact on my womanly fuctions and cause these chronic yeast infections? This is the second one within the last three weeks. I usually treat them with Monistat 7 and I feel fine afterwards.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Chronic stress is known to have a negative effect on the immune system and could plausibly increase the likelihood of getting a yeast infection. There have been some studies which support the link between stress and vaginal yeast infections. I suggest to use a multivitamin supplement and have a healthy lifestyle. I recommend to eat healthy, drink liquids and and exercise daily.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
