Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Spinal Stenosis Cause Pain On The Buttocks And Botton Of Foot?
MY MRi shows unchanged multilevel spondylosis with neuroforaminal and tricompartmental spinal stenosis worse at the L5 S1 on the left where existing and postganglionic left L5 root is displaced and worse at L3-L4 where the cauda equina remains impinged. Could this be what is causing me so much pain down my left butt cheek, down the left side of my leg across the top of my foot to the bottom of my foot?
You are spot on here with your assumption that the spinal stenosis is likely that is causing the (what we call radicular) nerve pain. The impingement and stenosis really from L3 down is more than likely the root cause here particularly since stenosis is worse of the left, I think that is a good indication of the severity of the issue here. With the nerve levels involved I suspect the stenosis is indeed the cause of your pain in the left gluteal cheek downward.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
