Can Rino virus cause seizures? My2 1/2 yr old grandson had a seizure. He has been sick off and on for over a year mucus plugs in his lungs and pneumonia 2xs. Been on breather medication (steam type) since last December. He got sick again in early Oct. and went back to Pulmonologist. Nose swab showed 2 bacterial infections and the Rino virus. After another round of antibiotics he seemed to be doing a little better. Had a seizure at church. completely unconscious for about 30 mins and then delirious for about an hour after. no jerking. Rescue transported to ER. fever about 99. CT scan normal. Echocardiogram normal. EEG showed abnormal activity in left rear of brain. MRI with contrast normal.

Rhinovirus does not cause seizures. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a neurologist and get yourself evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
