Can Rapid Weight Loss Cause Back Pain?

Today, my PCP declined to give me a referral to the Baylor Scoliosis Center saying I want you to lose 20 pounds of belly fat first. I have had a previous Dx of DJD, DDD, and mild scoliosis L3/L4 pain on left side with hip muscles going into cramp spasms after briskly walking only 50 yards. He said, I think something else is causing your back pain. But, other than losing white fat weight around my visceral organs he did not say what it could be. Any ideas?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Rapid weight loss without protein supplements & specific exercises to built-up muscles; there is weakness & loss of muscle mass leading to backache

Start taking a high protein diet with regular back muscles work out with physiotherapists guidance.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
