Can Ovarian And Fallopian Tube Polyps Lead To Cancer?
Hi my mum died of ovarian cancer aged 35. At at screening clinic I was diagnosed with a polyp and underwent a d&c. It was then discovered I had a further polyp in my Fallopian tube. I am post menopausal aged 52. It has been suggested that I have a overestimate. With the discovery of this further polyp take the decision out of my control?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Fallopian tube polyp refers to a small focal lesion of ectopic endometrial tissue located at the intramural portion of the fallopian tube. Polyps are soft red outgrowths which are generally non-cancerous. Polyp that develops near the fallopian tubes may obstruct the opening of the tubes, possibly leading to difficulty with becoming pregnant. In any case, kindly get yourself screened for genital cancers regularly since you have a family history of ovarian cancer. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
