Can Open Heart Surgery Be Replaced By Some Other Method?

My dad is 75 years old and in good health. He was told that he needs an aortic valve replacement. He was informed that because he is in good health open heart surgery would be the procedure done on him. Can the biological replacement be done minimally invasive or does it have to be done by open heart surgery?

Hi welcome to HCM.
Aortic valve replacement is most ideally and safely done through an open thoracotomy or OPEN HEART SURGERY.Minimally invasive procedures are not available for valve replacements for aortic valve surgeries, although few percutaneous procedures are available for other valves like mitral valve.Single port Thoracotomies are currently under trials and are considered to be minimally invasive.Consult your cardiologist for further queries.
Thank you
