Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband, age 70 has been taking 50 mg. of zoloft for anxiety for about 20 years. Doesn t seem to be working as well. Has he built a tolerance? Should he ask his doctor to increase the dosage? He s also recently (2 months)n quit smoking which increases anxiety.
hi, Yes, zoloft (an antidepressant) can develop tolerance over time, especially on long term usage. If it seems to be slowing down, either its dose needs to be increased or other replacements (like dotheipein or mirtaz) should be sought. Consult your doctor who will address your problem. All the best.
