Can Migraine And Chronic Insomnia Cause Severe Neck Pain?

My name is Misha. I have had ongoing chronic neck pain, stiffness, and weakness for 1 1/2 years. I have had problems with my neck, middle back, and lower back for many years, but only in spells. Now, everyday is a battle with Severe neck pain. I have been to a neurologist that diagnosed me with Migraines and chronic Insomnia for 8 years now. This not including my depression, anxiety, panic attacks, extreme fatigue, sleep apnea, and lack of concentration. Recently I was referred to an Orthopedic Physician- x-rays and MRI shows nothing. Do to no evidence of a problem, he is treating me with steroids, therapy, and anti-inflammatory and his next move he plans to send me to pain management or a Spinal Surgeon- I do not want to do either one of those options until all my symptoms are taken into account. I was told by a friend that I needed to seek a Rheumatologist due to ALL my health conditions and that Fibromyalgia should be considered. Thanks in advance for your guidance

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

* Migraine and chronic insomnia are definitely cause severe neck pain with muscle spasm and ligament stretching to variable extent. Certain cases of neuritic pain also manifest as neck pain.

* Unless, whole body muscles of various and multiple sites are not involved, fibromyalgia would be of less likely issue. Awaiting for your response.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
