Can Metronidazole And Doxycycline Cause Any Side Effects?

I have had my gallbladder removed within 5 days I hand a serious infection this was treated with iv antibiotic and then a course of tablets metronidazole docxycline which did not clear the infection so I was given a second course which I have completed last Monday and I tried an alcoholic drink on Thursday and I had some of the side effects the red flushing of the face and neck why was this

Well metronidazole is known to interact with alcohol consumption. So please while you are on this medication do not drink alcohol what so ever. The red flushing on face and neck was caused by this interaction.
