Can Medicines Which Have Past The Expiry Date Be Consumed?

I take Bystolic to control my bp. Not remembering that Monday was a holiday, I failed to refill my script Friday. I take 1 every morning at 8 am & took the last this morning. I will not be able to go to the pharmacy until tomorrow afternoon. I have a sample bottle my Dr gave me last year. The expiration was 08/10, so nearly 1yr past. Can I take it? Or should I wait until I can go to the pharmacy tomorrow afternoon?
