Can Infantile Colic Cause Speech Problems?

Is there a connection between colic as a baby and the inability to say words at age 3 years? Speech therapy seems to be slowly helping. My grandson just jabbered in his own language . He seems bright and responds to orders. It s a case of auditory in but not auditory out .

Hi,

Infantile colic is not related to speech delay. I feel that your grandson is having an isolated speech delay as you have already ruled out the audiological problem.

I suggest that he might get benefited with appropriate speech therapy and I would also recommend that he be tested for autistic spectrum disorder.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
