Can I Walk For Short Distance While Having Aircast For Broken Toe?

A week ago I broke my big toe, a full break all the way across out under the nail. A doctor put me in an aircast and said I can do light duty work as I am self employed. I have been wearing aircast but doing some walking with it. Am I hurting my recovery? I have a follow up xray in 5 days from now.

Welcome to health care magic.

1.The post operative / procedure care after in the fracture case suggestions include - non weight bearing, less mobility cast for 6 weeks.
2.Minimal walking with not bearing weight at the particular point.
3.Yes you will be causing delay in recovery if you do weight bearing, even mal-union / non union of the bones are possible.
4.Get your followup x-ray and see the status.
5. Generally its 6 weeks care needed after the fracture for better healing procedure.

Good luck.
