Can I Take 2.5mg Of Bystolic Daily For High BP?

I am to start taking Bystolic daily continued heart palpitations that are accompanied by shortness of breath. We cut out caffeine 6 months ago without improvement of symptoms. Due to a history of bradycardia and B/P 116/70 I am concerned with potential side effects on 5mg dose. Can the Bystolic be cut in half and started at 2.5mg dose until we see how I respond?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Bystolic is a medication used to treat blood pressure and tachycardia. I suggest to start with a dosage of 2.5 mg and maintain the blood pressure under control. If the blood pressure continues to be high, I suggest to raise the dosage.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
