Can Hepatitis A Vaccination Be Taken While On Methotrexate And Hydroxychloroquine?

I will be traveling to Rwanda and Tanzania in July 2018 and have been informed I need Hep A (which I already have ) vaccines as well as Typhoid and Yellow Fever. I have Sjogrens and RA and take methotrexate, hydrochlorquine, pilocarpine, folic acid and melaxicam. Please advise what I need to be aware of before taking these shots. Thanks.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The Sjorgens and RA will not be affected by the vaccinations. Also the medicines that you take.

The shots are most of the time with minor side effects, without interactions, do not affect chronic diseases.
Some people may be allergic to specific components but that is very rare and the hospital staff is prepared before for that risk.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
Dr. Papaqako
