Can Half Pill Of Avapro Be Taken To Maintain Blood Pressure Levels?

I have been given Avapro 75mg and told it is a very low dose. I began two days ago on half a tablet (so far 1 x complete tablet) my BP has dropped by 30 points. I feel that one tablet a day is going to be too much, can I take one each second day or continue with half each day? This morning my average BP is 109-61-71 I am 82 years young and in very good health otherwise.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are wondering if half pill of Avapro be taken to maintain blood pressure levels. Well Avapro (irbesartan) is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist used to treat high blood pressure. As far as my opinion is concern your should change the dose or medicine by your own . I would suggest you to consult your cardiologist and discuss the condition with him/her . Doctor may order certain test like ECG , TMT and complete blood profile to check your present condition and change the dose according to the situation . So for now take your medicine as per prescription .
