Can Food Allergy Cause Headaches, Rashes, Headache And Other Symptoms?

Yesterday I had a bad headache, primarily in my eye sockets. Last night I developed a rash ( no bumps but lots of solid red patches on my trunk and on the right side of my back). I woke up this morning with more rash, less headache (but eyes feel glassy), but now have an achy body and chills... But no fever or upset stomach or runny nose...no cough either. If anything the rash is sensitive, not itchy or painful. What is going on? Could it be a food allergy, an allergic reaction to spring foliage that is new to me, a flu? How should I treat this?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

In absence of runny nose and cough, flu sounds less likely against more possible food allergy with new consumption of spring foliage. Primary working guidelines:
- Splashing of eyes with cold water
- Plenty of liquids
- Calamine lotion application to rash area
- Antihistamine as loratidine, cetrizine or diphenhydramine as per the clinician choice
- Steroid shots or tablets is matter of clinical judgement and beyond scope of this help line platform

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
