Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i live on a small trailor. we have the back of it closed off to keep it warm in the rest of the trailor. we have a kerosine heater thet we use all day everyday and the only times it is off id when we are refueling it.the only fresh air coming throgh is wen the front door is opened or closed.im concerned about myself but i am 5 months pregnant and im worried my child will come out with a birth defect if i continue to bsleep around and hang out around this exposure of the kerosine.i smell it strongly everyday and im not gone much so im here more often then not.
Hi and thanks for the query, I really do not think you need to be bothered that much. It is important to know for how long you have been exposed, and if other substances are also present. Birth defects generally arise only when you are exposed within the first three months of pregnancy. Kerosene however has not really been described to be actually associated to birth defects. I think you need to be calm. But seek the opinion of your Ob/GYn in case of too much worry. Kind regards
