Hello,

Yes, it can delay periods. If you use the combined contraceptive pill you can delay your period by taking two packets back-to-back and miss out the 7-day break. But later you may experience side effects. Taking tablet Regesterone (Norethisterone) to be started 1 week from your expected date of period till you want to postponed it will delay periods.

Ones you stop tablet you will get menses in next 3 to 4 days. Side effects that you will experience are heavy bleeding, irregular cycles for a month or 2.You may also experience bloating, abdominal discomfort or pain. Many women complain nausea and headache also. Consult your gynae before taking the pills.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
