Can Continued Intake Of Mycrogynon Cause Delayed Periods?
Hi I have just started taking mycrogynon 30 today (1st day of period) if I take a second packet straight away how likely is it to stop my period? I go on holiday 8th June for 2 weeks and I really don t want my period 2nd week of my holiday! Especially not Egypt where it is so hot
Yes, it can delay periods. If you use the combined contraceptive pill you can delay your period by taking two packets back-to-back and miss out the 7-day break. But later you may experience side effects. Taking tablet Regesterone (Norethisterone) to be started 1 week from your expected date of period till you want to postponed it will delay periods.
Ones you stop tablet you will get menses in next 3 to 4 days. Side effects that you will experience are heavy bleeding, irregular cycles for a month or 2.You may also experience bloating, abdominal discomfort or pain. Many women complain nausea and headache also. Consult your gynae before taking the pills.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
