HELLO, I WAS PERSCRIBED METHYLPREDNLOSONE AND AZITHROMYCIN FOR A BAD COLD WITH CLOGGED EARS. I HAVE TAKEN THE ANTIBIOTIC BUT HAVE NOT YET TAKEN THE STEROID DUE TO NOT WANTING THE SIDE EFFECTS THAT I READ! CAN I GET RID OF MY CLOGGED EARS WITH THE ANTIBIOTIC ALONG WITH AN OVER THE COUNTER MED?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. If you have completed the course of antibiotics, it should have overcome the infection. Clogged ears could still persist until the mucosal congestion comes down. If you do not wish to take steroids, kindly do the following: 1. Take steam inhalation twice daily. 2. Take nasal decongestant medications. Gradually, your symptoms should get better and be back to normal. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
