Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Be Treated Using Herbal Medication?
I have heard that some people have excellent results using different types of plant based vegetables have really slowed down their CLL white blood cell counts. This is because all medicines are derived from plant based chemicals/ingredients, any comments on this aspect?.
While people can live for years with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), there is no effective cure. Hence, new targeted therapies are vital to improving clinical outcomes for patients with CLL. Using natural compounds for the treatment of cancer is not new.
Two naturally-occurring compounds-- curcumin, the active ingredient in the spice turmeric and the green tea extract epigallocatechin-3-gallate have marked effects on the apoptotic machinery in chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
But there is no concrete evidence as for how long these natural compounds can delay the outcome. So it is better to go for conventional therapies plus herbal medicines if you have access to an expert in herbal medicines.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
