Can Bug Spray Cause Uneasy Sleep And Burning Of Skin?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...

Today out house was sprayed for bed bugs. This was the second treatment. When we came home today it smelled much stronger of chemicals than last time. Now my son is acting very uneasy, cant sleep, very iratable, skin burning, hes seven and he says he feels like he's losing his mind. Could it be frome the bug spray. Last time they diluted it. Im afraid maybe they used to much or didnt dilute it properly. When my son trys to lay down to sleep, he cant even lay still and he usually sleeps very well.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, it is possible. He inhaled or had skin contact with the bug spray, and it is causing these effects. I would get him out of the house for now and contact the poison control center and ask what to do. He might need to go to an emergency and be checked and treated for the exposure. Small children can be especially sensitive to pesticides. If you could smell the chemicals much stronger this time, I am concerned that his contact with the pesticide has been much worse. Get him out of that environment for now and get him checked promptly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Karen Steinberg
