Hello. I've had a broken molar for a little bit now and can't get to the dentist right away because I am waiting for my insurance to go through, as I can't afford the Whole cost. but lately it has been hurting a lot and giving me a lot of pain in my jaw and gum around it. Was just wondering if you think it is infected and if I could go to my local doctor until I am able to get to the dentist. Thank you!
As your molar tooth is broken and of it is deep enough then it can be due to decay which seems to have progressed to the nerves present in the centre of the tooth leading to inflammation of nerves, irritation and pain..
It cannot be permanently resolved with only taking medication like antibiotics and painkillers and you need to get the tooth treated..
You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated.. An x ray of the tooth will be advised..
In case if tooth can be saved then Root Canal Treatment will be advised.. In case of gross decay extraction is advisable..
As of now consult a local Physician and get a script of antibiotics like Augmentin and painkillers like Ibuprofen.. Avoid eating from painful side..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
